Jechira Governorship Aspirants, Stakeholders Accuse PDP of Betrayal!

Governorship Aspirants and Chieftains of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) from Jechira political axis of Benue State have accused the party of betraying them concerning the ceding of governorship position to Kwande axis in 2027.

In the letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP in the State, signed by Professor Dennis Ityavyar, Rt. Hon Dominic Terkaa Ucha, Dr. Peter Terwase Tor-Tiv Ato and Dr. Ater Simon Ayangalumun, the governorship aspirants stated that the decision of the party to deny Jechira of the seat in Government House in 2027 smacks of transparency, betrayed confidence reposed in the political institution and breached the trust! 

They argued that the agreement established in 2023 by PDP "zoned the governorship position to Jechira that it would be retained for a period of (8) years."

According to the aspirants, prior to this period, the "Jemgbagh had held the position for eight years, followed by Sankera for another eight years and MIND (Lobi) for eight years." On the basis of the development, they asked "why should the case of Jechira be different?" 

The aggrieved politicians maintained that although, the party's decision on issues of representation for progress of the party and the society generally was supreme, nonetheless, decision by the PDP to shortchange allegedly the Jechira on the position became compelling to give "our firm position that the PDP gubernatorial ticket should remain in Jechira and not move to Kwande." 

Arising from the position, the stakeholders declared "we wish to clearly inform all our supporters, and especially those in Jechira that we have not, and will not sell our mandate!" 

To mitigate the situation, the stakeholders acknowledged the partisan political decision as being supreme and expected to be respected but said however that "we respectfully call on our esteemed Chairman to use his good office to review this decision in line with the established conventions and principles of the PDP."

Amidst the complaint, the embattled stakeholders said, they still maintained their "unalloyed loyalty to the PDP and its leaders, His Excellency, Dr. Samuel Ortom, Distinguished Senator Abba Moro as well as other leaders of the party."
